What you need to know about Sublimation Printing?

1
These days, Sublimation Printing is becoming more popular for manufacturing promotional products. Sublimation printing is basically a way of transferring a graphic design onto a garment or material by using a special sublimation printer. This has become the preferred choice used by the professionals in the field due to its high in quality and of transferring the graphic without it ever being in a liquid state.

Here are some points about Sublimation Printing.

1. Sublimation Printing works well with polyester materials. However recent developments in sublimation printing technology have increased the options when printing onto different materials. Hard products like polymer treated brass, acrylics and aluminium and other rigid products can now be printed using this technology.

2. It works best on white or very light coloured garments or surfaces. The inks are not only transparent but the bond to the polymer molecules so that the base colour of the surface/garment will show through.

3. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will fade the colour of the item. While development is being done to extend the life of items used outdoors, it is recommended that Dye Sub for items should not be used for more than about a year in high sun/UV exposure.

4. For most indoor and clothing uses, Dye Sublimation is incredibly durable and fade resistant. These garments can be machine washed many times and the colours still remain bright and sharp.

5. Dye sublimation allows for a high degree of customisation as items are printed individually making it easier to add a name, logo, or special message.

6. As the printing bonds with the polymers on a molecular scale, the image is imperceptible to the touch. You won’t feel it on hard goods and will remain the same as the unprinted fabric.

7. Dye Sublimation production time is very good for shorter runs or individual item orders.

8. Unlike screen printing, Dye Sub prints full, glorious colours in a single pass which reduces time and costs on full-colour reproductions.

9. Sublimation printing tends to be brighter and has a stronger contrast than other printing methods.

Sublimation Printing is widely used in products, such as t-shirts, towels and pillows. It is also well suited to hard items like cups, mugs, bags, umbrellas and branded banners.
